The Only Movie You Need this Thanksgiving

With (Canadian) Thanksgiving right around the corner, I thought I’d share my favourite Thanksgiving movie: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (1987). I doubt there are many people who haven’t seen this movie, but it deserves a mention nonetheless. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles , starring Steve Martin and John Candy, follows Neal Page (Martin) as he attempts to get home in time for Thanksgiving from a business trip. After a snow storm cancels his flight home, Page’s life intertwines with that of a talkative, bumbling shower curtain ring salesman, played by Candy. The two are both heading to Chicago and decide to travel together, unaware of the rocky road that lays ahead.


This funny and uplifting story is sure to get you in the mood for all your Thanksgiving traditions. Happy Thanksgiving fellow Canadians!

  1. I’m one of the few who haven’t seen this movie, then! I didn’t even know what it was about except obviously traveling… I’ll have to put it on my list in time for American Thanksgiving 🙂
